July 17, 2017: Reverend William Barber at NY City Hall
Join the the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival and Rev. Dr. William J Barber II in condemning the Trump administration and state elected officials’ ongoing, proven acts of racist voter suppression and gerrymandering. These practices undermine the influence of the poor in the political process, and allow extremists to get elected and promote policies that exacerbate injustice and inequality. Moreover, voter suppression disproportionately disenfranchises African American and other minority voters, a shameful reincarnation of tactics employed during the era of racial segregation and Jim Crow. Help send the message that equal and universal suffrage is not an optional commitment, but a fundamental right for all people.
In the words of Rev. Barber, "Enfranchisement is essential to human freedom and dignity. To deny citizens’ right to vote is to deny their full humanity. Too many people have bled and died in America’s long fight for voting rights. Their blood cries out against this evil.” Our nation needs your voice now more than ever, please come join the fight for justice.
